Sun, sea and desert, mountain ranges, canyons and plains.... Oman is a perfect country for travellers and nature lovers. The best way to explore the country is by a good offroad car which can take up with the partly really steep and dusty mountain roads or the fine sand of the desert dunes.

The mountain ranges of Oman are spectacular and unique due to a process called "obduction": the oceanique crust of the old Tethys Ocean was not subducted underneath the continent but pushed up forming the Oman Mountains. Geologists can thus study the ocean floor high up in the mountains, tourists can enjoy the diversity of stones and boulders when hiking up canyons and "Wadis" with their ponds, springs and tarns. History charged cities, impressive forts, oases and picturesque villages but in particular the great and natural friendliness of the people of this old seafaring nation make a journey to Oman a memorable experience.
