Being a horsewoman myself I was very interested to see the "Historic Hunt and Carriage Gala" which took place the third time in the park between the Chateaus of Schleißheim and Lustheim in September 2010.

A carriage corso, a picknick party, a foxhunt on horseback with hounds and hornplayers which started and ended in the park, performances of the "Chevaulegers" and the "Ulanen" (light cavalry) in their original costumes, and of ladies on the side-saddle showed what riders and horses were able to accomplish in former centuries. The carriages are either original historic vehicles or accurate copies. The harnesses are authentic as used during the 17th and 18th century. Couchmen, wagon-guests and riders are dressed according to the fashion of the times the carriages were in use.

Once you blended out the many spectators in the park you could feel being carried back to the Court of  Max Emanuel with its pompous barock feasts - just like the merry picknickers on the lawn in front of  the Chateau.
